West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Hammers Target Another Upset
To the outsider, this match might look like just another London derby but for those on the inside, it’s much more important than that. Many fans of the Hammers want to win this one more than any other match and while they generally start as outsiders, West Ham have a history of upsetting the odds.
Spurs supporters might like to play this one down but they are equally desperate to win. It all adds up to an intriguing clash in this 3pm Saturday kick off and it will be a busy set of markets in the lead up to the first whistle.
West Ham United have the home advantage but it’s Spurs who hold the higher position in the league so Mauricio Pochettino’s men come into this game as favourites at best odds of 22/25 with MarathonBet. The draw is next at a top price of 3/1 with 188Bet while it’s back to MarathonBet for the best numbers on a West Ham win at 67/20.
Based on comparative strengths, Spurs should come through but West Ham are something of a bogey team for the north London outfit and they consistently take points off them both home and away. The Hammers have also improved considerably since losing their first four games and with Andriy Yarmolenko returning to fitness, they are an impressive unit that is more than capable of taking a point on home turf.
Individual Goal Scorers
Harry Kane failed to score for England in the international break but his all round performance drew plenty of praise and answered those critics who say he is suffering from post-World Cup burnout. Against West Ham on Saturday, Kane is favourite to open the scoring and you can back the Spurs man at best odds of 29/10 with Unibet and 10Bet.
Tottenham’s back up striker Fernando Llorente is next on the list at a top price of 5/1 with Black Type but he will almost certainly start from the bench so should be avoided for the first goal at least. West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic is a far more likely contender at a best of 13/2 while you can get those same best odds of 13/2 with Son Heung-Min from BetBright.
Lucas Moura has been subdued of late after a prolific start to the season saw him score twice against Manchester United but he will interest some at a top price of 15/2 with Boylesports. Other, longer priced options to think about here might include West Ham’s impressive new signing Andriy Yarmolenko at best odds of 9/1 with 10Bet and SportPesa,
There are some interesting prices there but the player that catches our attention most is Marko Arnautovic. West Ham are a far bigger threat when the Austrian is in the side and after a respectable scoring start to the new campaign, we’ll take him at best odds of 21/10 with Betway for an anytime goal.
Other Side Bets
If we disregard cup games, Spurs have not conceded in their last two matches while West Ham drew a blank last time out when they went down 1-0 away to Brighton. Those are not necessarily good indicators for the Both Teams to Score bet and for some, it will be too short at its best price of 11/17 with SportPesa and 10Bet.
However, given that Tottenham frequently concede to West Ham irrespective of the overall result, we think it could be one of the safer bets of the afternoon and are happy to include it among some longer priced tips.
An obvious alternative to this would be the Over 2.5 Goals line which is available at best odds of 20/27 with Black Type or, players could be braver and go over 3.5 which is quoted at a top price of 7/4 with Unibet and 888Sport.
The corresponding fixture in the 2017/18 season resulted in a 3-2 win for Tottenham so plenty of punters will aim high but we just have a feeling that this will be a more subdued affair. While Harry Kane has started the season well, there hasn’t been much support and Spurs have not been so prolific this time around.
Coupled with West Ham’s issues, a 1-1 Correct Score draw at 33/5 with 188Bet could be the way to go but we’re looking at these three tips to give us a profit at the London Stadium on Saturday.
- The Draw at 3/1 with 188Bet
- Marko Arnautovic to score any time at 21/10 with Betway
- Both Teams to Score at 11/17 with SportPesa
