Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United: Back Red Devils to Shine at Wembley
After a slow start to life at their temporary Wembley home, Spurs seem to have settled into their new surroundings and currently enjoy a long unbeaten run at this famous old stadium.
That record will be severely tested on Wednesday as Manchester United, who haven’t quite given up on their title ambitions, travel to London in a game that will have a huge bearing on top four places at the end of the season.
This is a tight market with odds against prices on all three possible outcomes and it’s one where Tottenham start as favourites at a top price of 34/25 with MarathonBet. Anyone having an eye on the draw can get best odds of 40/17 with 188Bet while it’s back to MarathonBet for the best price on a Manchester United win which currently sits at 121/50.
Spurs may be coming into this game on an unbeaten run but their last two results, 1-1 draws with Southampton and Newport County, have been worrying to say the least. It’s also hard to argue against those who point to an over-reliance on Harry Kane as the England striker scored the equaliser in each of those games.
One man who is key to Tottenham’s hopes is Christian Eriksen who missed those draws and Spurs will want the Danish midfielder and keeper Hugo Lloris back in the ranks. If the hosts are at anything less than full strength I think they are going to be vulnerable here against a United team who are back in top form after their own dip over the Christmas period. As the outside bet, there is definite value in that 121/50 price.
Individual Goal Scorers
Harry Kane notched his 30th goal of the season in that draw with Newport so it’s no surprise to see Tottenham’s main striker start as favourite to open the scoring at best odds of 57/17 with 188Bet.
There is plenty of competition from Manchester United players in this market and Romelu Lukaku and new signing Alexis Sanchez can both be picked up at a top price of 13/2 with Bet365. Prior to that there is a shorter set of best odds of 11/2 with Paddy Power for Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente but as he usually starts on the bench he should probably be avoided.
Moving further back down the pitch, Spurs have Dele Alli at 17/2 with Bet365 or Christian Eriksen at a top price of 10/1 with Winner Sports and Sport Pesa. For United, the longer priced tempters are Jesse Lingard at 9/1 with William Hill and BetBright or Paul Pogba at an excellent best of 14/1 with Bet365 and Sport Pesa.
For this section, we’re going to look at United’s Anthony Martial who scored the only goal when these teams met at Old Trafford earlier in the season. He may start on the bench however so we’ll take the Frenchman for an anytime goal at a top price of 10/3 with William Hill.
Other Side Bets
Spurs may have drawn their last two games and while there is that reliance on Harry Kane, the team certainly aren’t firing blanks. In fact, Tottenham and Manchester United have scored at least one goal in each of their last five games so that would make the Both Teams to Score bet a strong option for this match at a top price of 5/6 with 10Bet and Sport Pesa.
That isn’t a bad price either so by all means add that to your bet slip or, you can look for something a little longer to finish off. We’ve convinced ourselves to stay with United for the win but it could be tight so a correct score bet of Spurs 1 Manchester United 2 looks promising at an excellent 12/1 with Bet365.
It’s a tough call for the last tip and while that 12/1 price is outstanding in our opinion, we’ve already gone for two odds-against predictions so we’ll finish with that 5/6 on Both Teams to Score in what should be an open and attacking 90 minutes.
- Manchester United to win at 121/50 with MarathonBet
- Anthony Martial to score anytime at 10/3 with BetFred
- Both Teams to Score at 5/6 with 10Bet
