Real Madrid v Barcelona: Time to Decide the Title?
Whenever these two teams play there is always more than just bragging rights at stake and a win for Real Madrid, at home in the Bernabeu on Sunday, will surely cement their claim to yet another La Liga title. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are already three points clear with a game in hand so, if Barca lose, it will be almost impossible to make up the deficit with just five matches left.
El Clasico becomes even more crucial this weekend but how do the bookies see this one going?
The market is actually a lot tighter than you may have thought with odds against prices on all three possible outcomes. Real are an obvious favourite and come in at 23/20 with Betway and William Hill for the win while Barcelona are next at a top price of 58/25 with MarathonBet.
The draw completes this picture at 16/5 with MarathonBet again so where will this game be won and lost? Team news is positive for Real with the likely return of Gareth Bale from injury but Barca will be without Neymar who continues to serve a suspension. That could be just enough to tip the balance in the home side’s favour so who, out of the players who will feature, can make the difference here?
Individual Goal Scorers
With so much attacking talent in both camps, just how do you make a selection for first goal scorer? The bookies give you a hint with favourite Cristiano Ronaldo at 7/2 with Paddy Power and Betway while Lionel Messi follows at 9/2 with William Hill and SkyBet. Both men are maintaining their ratio that approaches or exceeds a goal a game so it’s not a clear cut option.
Other picks include Luis Suarez at 5/1 with BetBright and SkyBet while Karim Benzema is further back at a best of 6/1 with SkyBet. It’s not been the best of seasons for Bale who is quoted here at 13/2 with Betway and 188Bet and with so many choices, a safer decision is to switch to the anytime markets.
A good, outside punt here is Real’s Sergio Ramos, the Real defender who scores his share of important goals and can be picked up at an excellent top price of 5/1 with Bet365 while the odds against figure of 6/5 with SkyBet and Coral on an anytime goal for Luis Suarez could prove to be one of the better value options of the game.
It should be a thriller in the Bernabeu on Sunday and there are certainly lots of options on that list.
Other Side Bets
While there are exceptions that prove the rule, even when you get two closely matched sides such as Real and Barcelona, the true nature of the teams will come through. An attacking and very open game could be in prospect and that’s why many people will be backing Both Teams to Score, even if it is at a very short 1/3 with the likes of Paddy Power and Stan James.
If you want something a little higher, over 2.5 goals is at 2/5 with Stan James and Winner Sports but we’re expecting a little bit more from these two, and will therefore be going for over the 3.5 line at 30/29 with 188Bet.
Correct score bets can also be looked at, based on a high scoring game and a 2-2 draw should be popular at a top price of 11/1 with William Hill and 10Bet. We’re getting behind Real Madrid for this one and may well have a small stake on a 3-2 home win which currently drops in at an excellent 17/1 with 188Bet.
Our confirmed tips are a little safer however but let’s hope it’s an entertaining game and from a profit point of view, Real will hopefully edge a tight contest.
