Manchester City v Spurs: City Set to March on Towards EPL Title

After just 17 games of the new Premier League season, many pundits are already conceding the title. Manchester City have an incredible record of 16 wins and a draw from those 17 matches but can Spurs put a dent in that return when the teams meet this weekend?

It’s the Saturday evening kick off in the EPL and while Tottenham have performed well on recent visits to the Etihad, the bookies can only see this going one way.

Match Odds

City start as clear favourites on Saturday evening and the best odds on Pep Guardiola’s men currently stand at 4/7 with Coral. The draw drops in at a top price of 15/4 with Bet365 while anyone looking to get behind Spurs can claim a best of 27/5 with MarathonBet.

The corresponding fixture ended in a 2-2 draw last season while Tottenham actually won here two years ago but Manchester City look like a far more dominant outfit this time around. Spurs are definitely capable of getting a point but their own form is poor against the top teams so it’s a home win for us.

Individual Goal Scorers

Raheem Sterling

There is top quality firepower on both sides but City players start things off in the goal scoring markets with Sergio Aguero favourite to open the scoring at best odds of 3/1 with Paddy Power and 188Bet. Gabriel Jesus is only just behind at a top price of 10/3 with Bet365 while Leroy Sane is available at a best of 6/1 with Bet365 again.

Also at that same top price of 6/1 is Tottenham’s Harry Kane who seems the most likely scorer for the away side. The England striker is available at that figure with Betway and SkyBet before we move into some interesting midfield options.

The interest for many will be on Raheem Sterling who is as short as 4/1 in places yet available at an excellent best of 23/2 with Sport Pesa. Sterling is in potent form but could be a better option in the anytime market where he’s quoted at best odds of 17/10 with Unibet and 888Sport.

Spurs’ Son Heung-Min is also in great touch and could be considered for an anytime goal at a top price of 4/1 with BetFred but we’re going for Christian Eriksen here. The Dane scored the winner in this fixture two seasons ago and has a habit of netting against the bigger teams so while we expect Tottenham to lose, Eriksen to score anytime is a tip at 6/1 with BetFred.

Other Side Bets

Backing Eriksen to score and Manchester City to win means that we expect both teams to score so you could also take this option which is available at best odds of 8/13 with Sun Bets and BetFred. Other popular side bets might include Over 2.5 Goals which is on offer at 8/15 with Coral and Sun Bets

Both of those options may seem a little short so you could potentially conclude with the Winning Margin market where City to win by two goals is offered at a best price of 7/2 with SkyBet. A correct score of 3-1 in favour of Manchester City is available at 11/1 with Bet365 and 10Bet but we’ll finish this round up by tipping Sergio Aguero to score at least two goals and this is available at best odds of 9/2 with Paddy Power.

The striker has a good record against this opposition and should be a likely starter on Saturday evening.

As for the result, there are some enhanced odds, new customer deals from around the Sportsbooks but Manchester City have been so dominant that 4/7 in the standard markets actually isn’t bad. We’ll put that on the betslip and hope for a profitable 90 minutes.

Best Bets:

  • Manchester City to win at 4/7 with Coral
  • Christian Eriksen to score anytime at 6/1 with BetFred
  • Sergio Aguero to score at least twice at 9/2 with Paddy Power
