FA Cup Final 2017: Chelsea the Favourites in All-London Clash
Arsenal and Chelsea are the teams battling it out for glory as the 2017 FA Cup kicks Final off this Saturday. After a difficult league campaign in which they finished outside of the Champions League places, Arsenal finished strongly but it’s Chelsea who start as hot favourites for the trophy.
Antonio Conte’s men were worthy Premier League Champions but can the West London club make it a memorable double?
Chelsea start as odds on across the sportsbooks and you can currently back Conte’s side at a top price of 13/16 with 188Bet. Arsenal are the outside punt at 39/10 with MarathonBet while the draw comes in at best odds of 3/1 with Betway.
Those are the prices for the result on 90 minutes and, in the Lift the Trophy betting, Chelsea are quoted at a best of 21/50 with Winner Sports while Arsenal are on offer at a top price of 13/6 with 188Bet.
So, how can Arsenal possibly cause an upset? We know that they endured a poor season but, following their defeat to rivals Spurs at the end of April, the Gunners had a perfect record in May with five wins from five so their form is excellent.
It’s even better for Chelsea though with seven straight victories since their loss to Manchester United in mid-April. Arsenal can beat anyone on their day but Chelsea’s men look unstoppable, even if they may need extra time to come through it.
Individual Goal Scorers
The first goal scorer betting is led by Chelsea’s Diego Costa who starts things off at a best price of 7/2 with 32Red and 888Sport. The Spain international hit top form this season, scoring 20 goals in 35 league matches so he is a logical starter.
The player who interests us is Michy Batshuayi, the striker who has taken a belated chance to score freely at the end of Chelsea’s campaign. The Belgian is a best price of 5/1 to open the scoring and our first confirmed tip at 6/4 to find the net at any time in 90 minutes. Both of those prices are with bet365.
Chelsea are represented again with third favourite Eden Hazard who is quoted at best odds of 21/4 with 10Bet to open the scoring while the first Arsenal name on the list is that of Alexis Sanchez who is at a top price of 15/2 with 32Red to find the net first.
Arsenal’s better options are also in the anytime scorer market where Olivier Giroudis quoted at a best of 11/4 with 32Red and 888Sport. The Frenchman has a decent record for the Gunners, despite being the focal point for a lot of criticism and he has a number of late goals for Arsenal this season.
Danny Welbeck at 10/3 with 32Red and Theo Walcott at 15/4 with 888Sport can also provide threats from further back but Chelsea’s Batshuayi is our tip in this market.
Other Side Bets
You may feel that games between these two might be tight, defensive affairs with little goalmouth action but the results from the 2016/17 league campaign don’t necessarily bear that out. Chelsea won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in February while the reverse fixture at the Emirates ended in a 3-0 victory for the Gunners.
That suggests that on neutral ground, you should be looking at the Both Teams to Score bet if you want a short priced, safer option and this is quoted for Wembley at 4/6 with BetFred and Coral.
If you feel that it will be tight, under 2.5 goals is at a top price of 83/100 with MarathonBet but we expect quite an open game on what should be perfect conditions. In two matches in the Premier League, we’ve seen seven goals at an average of 3.5 per game so we are going to go over 3.5 for Saturday at 4/9 with SkyBet.
We know that Arsenal have the quality to beat any team and they have already defeated Chelsea this season. However, Conte’s title winning side have looked like an unstoppable force this season and while they may need extra time to conclude this game, Chelsea are the best bet.
For greater value however, look out for some Cup Final prices boosts and consider switching to the side markets for this tie.
