Everton v Chelsea: Form Teams go Head-to-Head at Goodison
Important games are being played out right across the Premier League weekend and Saturday starts with this crucial lunchtime kick off at Goodison Park. A few short weeks ago, Everton were looking like genuine candidates for relegation but the arrival of new manager Sam Allardyce seems to have galvanised the Merseyside club.
Chelsea, meanwhile, still retain hopes of a title push but the Blues have dropped points against lower ranked sides this season and many will feel that they look vulnerable here.
Everton have the better form and the home advantage but Chelsea are the odds on option to win this and can be backed at best odds of 4/6 with BetFred. The draw comes next on this list at a top price of 3/1 with MarathonBet while the bookies see an Everton win as a distant proposition at a best of 60/11 with Unibet.
The quality of the two squads may suggest that those prices are correct but we suspect there is some value in the market and the form table confirms it. After a poor start to the season, Everton have now won five and drawn one of their last six matches while Chelsea have won four, drawn one and lost one in the same period.
Many will keep faith with Chelsea but Everton have the momentum and it’s perhaps surprising that the market isn’t a little tighter.
Individual Goal Scorers
Before we commit to a prediction we’ll take a look at the players who can decide the destiny of this match and we have Chelsea players dominating the goal scorer betting. Alvaro Morata is favourite to open the scoring and the Spaniard can be picked up at best odds of 71/20 with MarathonBet while Michy Batshuayi is just behind at a top price of 4/1 with Winner Sports.
Batshuayi is always favoured highly by the bookies but he rarely plays so we’ll avoid that and move on. Eden Hazard is an option from midfield at a best of 9/2 with Unibet and 888Sport while Pedro is on offer with MarathonBet at 71/10.
With Chelsea substitutes achieving higher rankings, we finally get to our first Everton player with Wayne Rooney available at best odds of 17/2 to find the net first with bet365. Rooney is bang in form following that hat trick against West Ham and seems to be Everton’s most likely goal scoring source in Saturday’s game.
Other options from a Toffees’ perspective include Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sandro Ramirez, all of whom can be backed at the same best odds of 11/1 with bet365.
In this section, we’re going back to an old favourite by staking on Eden Hazard in the anytime market. We took a number of profits on this last season and while it’s a little short at a best price of 7/4 with Unibet and 888Sport, the Belgian has shown enough form this season to make it our first confirmed tip of the day.
Other Side Bets
With Everton attracting little interest from the bookmakers, there is some value in the popular side bets including Both Teams to Score which is on offer at a best price of Even Money with Stan James and 10Bet.
Usually this is an odds on figure for most matches and Chelsea’s defence hasn’t exactly been rock solid across the season so we will happily add that one to the list.
The overs and unders market has potential at the same time with over 2.5 goals creeping up to a best odds against figure of 21/20 with MarathonBet. Over 3.5 looks better at 5/2 with SkyBet and we fancy that figure but as our first two tips are fairly short, we’ll finish in the Correct Score market with a scoreline of 3-1 to Chelsea at 14/1 with bet365.
It is very tempting to tip Everton to get something from this game but we feel that Chelsea will go ahead early leaving the home side to chase the match and leave themselves vulnerable late on. Chelsea to win looks a logical conclusion but the better prices are in the side markets for Saturday’s game.
- Eden Hazard to score anytime at 8/11 with Unibet
- Both Teams to Score at Even Money with Stan James
- Correct Score of Everton 1 Chelsea 3 at 14/1 with bet365
