Crystal Palace v Arsenal: Crucial London Derby at Both Ends of the Table

Arséne Wenger

Crystal Palace pulled off the shock result of the Premier League season so far when they beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend and Sam Allardyce’s men will be hoping for something of a repeat when they host Arsenal on Monday. Both teams need the points for very different reasons and, based on current form, the result could be a lot closer than the markets are indicating.

Match Odds

Arsenal lead the way in the result betting and the best odds on Arsene Wenger’s men currently stand at 5/6 with either Bet365 or Betway. They are the stronger team but they concede home advantage and a mixed run of form makes the Gunners just a marginal odds on pick.

Elsewhere, the draw is offered at a top price of 74/25 with MarathonBet while a win for Crystal Palace can be taken at a best of 18/5 with MarathonBet once again.

That win for Palace at Chelsea was their fourth in a row so perhaps we shouldn’t have been too surprised, even if the Eagles came back to earth with defeat at Southampton in midweek. Arsenal are so hard to tip but victory over West Ham United last time out could just give them enough momentum to shade this one.

Individual Goal Scorer

There are potent strikers on both sides who can decide the destiny of this game but the first goal scorer betting is led by Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez is favourite to find the net first at a best price of 4/1 with Bet365 and BetBright while Olivier Giroud is on offer at best odds of 9/2 with Bet365 again.

Theo Walcott will be seen as a good option at a top price of 6/1 with William Hill and Betway and we finally come to the first mention of Crystal Palace with their striker Christian Benteke quoted at a best of 7/1 with Coral and Ladbrokes.

Walcott is our favoured option – a player who always seems to score important goals at the right time – but we’ll take a slightly safer bet and back the England international to score in 90 minutes at a top price of 19/10 with Coral.

Other tempting anytime goal bets include Mesut Ozil at 7/2 with 32Red and Wilfried Zaha, who was on target against Chelsea and is quoted at an excellent best price of 5/1 with 32Red again.

Other Side Bets

With fairly inconsistent form in both camps it’s hard to identify what sort of game this is likely to be but the outcome should be fairly tight. The winning margin could therefore be interesting with Arsenal to win it by one goal quoted at best odds of 57/20 with Winner Sports. Alternatively, Crystal Palace to win it by one offers even more value at 6/1 with SkyBet.

We’ve looked at the potency of both sides so the Both Teams to Score option will be popular as always at a top price of 5/7 with 188Bet but for our final tip of the match, we’ll go a little longer and take a look at the correct score betting.

We feel this will be tight although Arsenal may drive on if they can get an early lead, in which case a 3-1 scoreline in favour of the Gunners would be tempting at best odds of 14/1 with Bet365. However, we feel the visitors will only just edge this so Crystal Palace 1 Arsenal 2 is our favoured option at a best price of 17/2 with 10Bet.

It’s all about whose strikers perform better on the day and although Palace have improved so much under Allardyce, it’s Arsenal for the win on Monday night.
