Belgium v Greece: Tips for this Crucial game in Group H

Belgium vs. Greece

There are many important games in the offing this weekend as team look to continue their quest to qualify for Russia 2018 but this clash between the top two in Group H is one of the most crucial. They remain unbeaten and as it stands, both teams could go through but a win in Brussels on Saturday could go a long way towards automatic qualification.

They may be tight at the top, but the bookies have come down firmly in favour of the Red Devils for this one.

Match Odds

Leading up to the match, Belgium are an odds-on option to take the three points and the best odds here currently stand at 7/20 with MarathonBet. If you’re favouring Greece then the price on the away side to cause an upset is 21/2 with MarathonBet again while the draw completes this market at best odds of 9/2 with BetFred.

Belgium have the stronger side on paper and this is a fair market in terms of quality but the records of the two teams have been fairly similar. The Belgians have a perfect record of four wins from four and their progress in Group H includes an 8-1 demolition of Estonia and over those four games they have only conceded one goal.

Greece have won three and drawn one with their only slip coming last time out when they needed a 95th minute strike from Georgios Tzevellas to level their home tie against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The sides haven’t met yet – the reverse fixture takes place in September 2017 – so we have no head to head result and it could be closer than the market suggests.

Individual Goal Scorers

We’ll come back to the match result a little later but for now, who are the men that could decide the destiny of this fixture? Belgium have two players who have been in prolific form in the Premier League this season but with Eden Hazard injured, Romelu Lukaku will get the most attention in the goal scoring markets this weekend.

As the chief striker, Lukaku is an obvious favourite and he starts in the first goal scorer betting at a best of 3/1 with William Hill and 188Bet. Belgian players continue to dominate here with Christian Benteke close behind at a top price of 4/1 with bet365 while Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi is a 9/2 shot with bet365 once again.

If you’re looking to back a Greek player then you will have to head down to Kostas Mitroglou who is way out at a top price of 14/1 with 32Red to find the net first. Mitroglou scored Greece’s first of their campaign in the win over Gibraltar and followed up with the first against Cyprus in the next match so he is a decent option if you’re looking for Greece in this market.

We are going to have a look at individual goal scoring but are going for the last scorer market. Lukaku has hit a number of late goals for Everton this season, he is in great form and a strong punt at 3/1 with either William Hill or 188Bet.

Other Side Bets

Belgium have been by far the most dominant side in group H but this could be tight and the winning margin market may well be an interesting one. The Belgians to win by one is at 5/2 with bet365 and Boylesports while Belgium by two is at a best of 3/1 with bet365 and Paddy Power.

Either of those could prove to be winning options but for our final two predictions, we’ll take a small price along with a longer shot. Aside from a poor performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina last time out, the Greeks have put in some strong showings and they should find the net at the very least in this match. Both Teams to Score is therefore a tip at an odds on price of 11/8 with 888Sport and William Hill.

Finally, with Belgium looking strong, if you want an outside punt in the correct score betting, Belgium 3 Greece 1 looks good at a top price of 49/4 with 10Bet.

Best Bets:

  • Romelu Lukaku to score last at 3/1 with William Hill
  • Both Teams to Score at 11/8 with 888Sport
  • Correct Score of Belgium 3 Greece 1 at 49/4 with 10Bet
